Matthew Henley was born in Colchester, Essex. He holds a first class honours degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of York, UK and a Master of Arts in Political Science from Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, Canada.
Matthew’s poetry has appeared in various publications, including The London Magazine, Poetry Review and The Antigonish Review. Matthew won the 2014 Straid Award for ‘Beetle’, his first collection of poetry. His first short screenplay, ‘Grace’, received the honourable mention at the 2014 California International Short Film Festival, and he has been short-listed for the Bridport Prize for both fiction and poetry in 2017 and 2018.
Matthew is currently completing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia.
